New Delhi: Wearing mask has once again been made mandatory in Delhi following a surge in COVID-19 cases.
Anyone violating the order will be fined Rs 500.
The decision was taken on Wednesday at a Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) review meeting, attended by Lt Gov. Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Revenue Minister Kailash Gahlot and senior officials from the health department, reported The Indian Express.
Delhi on Tuesday reported 632 fresh cases, though the number of hospitalizations is low and deaths due to COVID negligible.
The previous two days had also seen 500-plus fresh coronavirus cases in the national capital.
Last month, the Delhi government withdrew COVID-related restrictions and, earlier this month, dropped the fine of Rs 500 for not wearing face masks at public places
Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain said that though there has been a spike in COVID cases, the situation was not alarming in Delhi.
