Bhubaneswar: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday postponed domestic tournaments including Ranji Trophy for 2021-22 season due to COVID situation in the country.
The BCCI, in a release, said keeping the safety of the players, support staff and match officials in mind, it has decided to postpone the domestic tournaments until further notice.
The Board will assess the situation and take a decision accordingly, it stated adding that it appreciated the efforts of the healthcare workers, state associations, players, support staff and match officials for hosting more than 700 matches of 11 tournaments in the season.
Besides Ranji Trophy, Col CK Nayudu Trophy and Senior Women’s T20 League have been postponed. While the Ranji Trophy and Col CK Nayudu Trophy were scheduled to start in January, the Senior Women’s T20 League was scheduled for February.
