Bhubaneswar: In view of rapid spread of COVID cases in the third wave, the BMC on Tuesday ordered private swimming pools in the areas under its jurisdiction to close down.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), in an official order, said the swimming pools run by private operators will be closed with immediate effect.
The municipality allowed the government-operated swimming polls, which are used for practice of sportspersons, to function by following the COVID protocols.
The state government, in its guidelines issued for this month, had allowed gymnasiums, spas, beauty parlours and saloons to operate from 5 am to 9 pm.
