Puri: Amid the spiralling COVID cases, several Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) staff and servitors of the 12th-century shrine have reportedly tested positive for the virus.
“A decision on possible restrictions is likely to be taken at the Chhatisa Nijog meeting scheduled to be held virtually with all stakeholders at 6.30 pm this evening to check further spread of the infection,” said Puri Collector Samarth Verma.
He further said that entry to Srimandir is barred after 8.30 pm and the restrictions will be enforced strictly from 9 pm along with night curfew in accordance with the guidelines issued by the office of the Special Relief Commissioner. “The devotees will be asked to exit the temple after offering prayer before 9 pm,” he added.
