Rourkela: Sundargarh district reported 44 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the district’s tally to 722 on Saturday.
Alarmingly, 39 of the new patients are contacts of a previous positive case. Of the others, three have travel history to Bhubaneswar and two are returnees from outside Odisha.
All of the new patients were shifted to various health facilities including the COVID Hospital and COVID Care Centre in Rourkela, and the COVID Health Centre and NTPC Hospital in Sundagarh.

Meanwhile, the administration informed that Sundargarh district has a bed capacity of 1,200 for COVID-19 positive patients and it would be increased to 2,000 by July 20. Also, a COVID Care Centre will be ready at Bonai from July 15.
Besides, all gram panchayats and municipal bodies will have COVID Care Houses for suspected cases.
