Bhubaneswar: With Odisha witnessing an unprecedented rise in COVID-19 cases, 24 out of 30 districts having more than 1000 actives cases are now tagged as red zone.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department, the active cases in Odisha rose to 81,585 on Thursday. Of these, 90 per cent (73,760) cases are in the red zone districts.
Of the districts tagged as red zone, Khurda has the highest of 13,569 active cases. The other 23 districts with more than 1000 actives cases are Angul (3,560), Balasore (1,484), Bargarh (4,093), Bhadrak (1,305), Balangir (2,644), Boudh (1,249), Cuttack (5,901), Ganjam (1,632), Jagatsinghpur (1,205), Jajpur (2,632), Jharsuguda (3,176), Kalahandi (2,901), Keonjhar (1,163), Koraput (1,049), Mayurbhanj (2,118), Nabarangpur (3,271), Nayagarh (1,734), Nuapada (2,368), Puri (3,586), Rayagada (1,364), Sambalpur (3,898), Sonepur (1,115) and Sundargarh (7,906).
A zone is categorized as red if districts with the highest caseload contribute to more than 80 per cent of coronavirus cases for each state in the country or districts with a doubling rate of less than four days.
