COVID Surge: Odisha Govt Orders Fever Clinics At All Govt Medical Institutions

Bhubaneswar: With COVID-19 cases rising sharply in Odisha, crossing the 200 mark in recent days and the 300 mark on Sunday, the state Health Department has directed all government medical institutions to start dedicated fever clinics.

“COVID-19 cases are rising and anticipating higher caseload in the coming days, it is reiterated that the following provisions are made in all District Headquarters Hospitals (DHHs), Sub Divisional Hospitals (SDHs), Community Health Centres (CHCs) and Medical College & Hospitals (MCHs),” the department’s order stated.

According to the order, fever clinics should have facility for COVID-19 testing and swab collection apart from dedicated isolation wards with oxygen-supported beds. Besides, the medical facilities have been asked to keep ICUs and HDUs with all logistic functional.

There should be provision for adequate drugs, consumables, reagents, test kits, PPE kits and oxygen cylinders.

“Adequate RRT, home isolation kits and follow-up mechanism for home isolation cases. All healthcare personnel are instructed to complete COVID vaccination as per protocol, including precaution dose. A medical officer should be designated as Nodal Officer for supervising treatment as per protocol,” the order stated.
