Sambalpur: A suspected coronavirus patient has escaped from the the isolation ward of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science And Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Sambalpur, triggering panic among locals.
The matter came to light on Wednesday, VIMSAR sources said.
According to the sources, the female patient, who is a resident of Ambabhon area in Bargarh district, was admitted to the hospital with a heart disease around 2.45 am on Tuesday.
The patient was suspected to be infected with coronavirus as she had come from a containment zone and hence rushed to the isolation ward of the primier hospital for a detailed diagnosis.
Her swab sample was taken for test. However, she was found missing from the hospital on Wednesday.
