Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration has decided to conduct COVID-19 test of servitors who will be taking part in the Chandan Yatra and construction of chariots for the annual Rath Yatra in Puri
The tests will begin from May 12 and only those test negative will be allowed to participate in the events, said the SJTA Administrator (Development), Ajay Jena.
The list of sevayats and the decision as to where the Chandan Yatra will be organised will be finalised after the Chhatisa Nijog meeting scheduled on May 11.
Earlier, the SJTA had announced its decision to conduct Chandan Yatra outside the temple at Narendra Pokhari on May 15.
Meanwhile, the sanitisation work was carried out on Sunday. The temple is closed for darshan for the devotees in view of the rising cases of COVID-19 and is scheduled to reopen after the lockdown.
