Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has lifted the mandatory RT-PCR negative report/final vaccination certificate requirement for people visiting the state.

The office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) said that these conditions have been withdrawn.

“Orders regarding stipulations/ restrictions as per Clause-A vide Order No. 2980/ (R & DM) dt. 30.05.2021 (i.e. entry of people into Odisha from other States by producing Rapid Antigen Test/ RT PCR negative Report/ final vaccination certificate etc.) is hereby withdrawn,” the notification said.

While the SRC’s Tuesday notification said that the restrictions were imposed from May 30, the government had started strictly implementing it by not allowing any people to enter the state without a COVID-19 negative report not older than 72 hours or the final vaccination certificate from April 12.

The rule was applied to all modes of travel, train, bus, aeroplane, waterways or private vehicles.

Those travelling without RT-PCR negative reports had to furnish their details and undergo seven-day mandatory quarantine. On-the-spot testing was also done on persons having symptoms of the flu at the airport.

Amid a surge in COVID cases, the state had also sealed its border with Chhattisgarh and set up checkpoints on borders with West Bengal, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
