Bhubaneswar: COVID-19 active cases in the state capital went past the five-digit mark, up to 10,060, in Bhubaneswar on Friday after 1048 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours.
Of the new cases, 151 are from quarantine and 897 through local contacts (86%).
Of the fresh positive cases, Patia has the maximum 45 followed by Nayapalli (44), Laxmisagar (33), Chandrasekharpur (32), Khandagiri (31), Old Town and Badagada (29 each), Sundarpada, Sailashree Vihar and Unit-9 (27 each), Niladri Vihar (24), Baramunda (23), Saheed Nagar and VSS Nagar (19 each), Rasulgarh (18) and Macheswar and Bomikhal (16 each).
On the other hand, 848 patients in the city have recovered, taking the total recoveries to 41,136 and total cases to 51,496.
Since April 1, the number of positive cases in Bhubaneswar is as high as 18,473, with the highest daily caseload being 1,119 on April 29.
Out of a total of 80,639 cases in Khurda district, Bhubaneswar now accounts for 64 per cent.
