Bhubaneswar: The state capital on Sunday reported the highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases (1353) in the last 24 hours.
Among the new cases, 218 are from quarantine and 1135 (84%) through local contacts. With this, the total number of cases in the city now stand at 61,634.
The highest number of cases are from Patia (102), followed by Nayapalli (78), Old Town (59), Khandagiri, Dumduma and Laxmi Vihar (45 each), Rasulgarh and Jharpada (37 each), Saheed Nagar (36), Unit-9, Unit-8, Niladri Vihar and Palaspalli (25 each), Patrapada and Pokhariput (23 each), Badagada and Unit-6 (22 each), Jayadev Vihar (20), Mancheswar (16) and Sailashree Vihar (14).
On the other hand, 938 patients have recovered.
With 49,224 recoveries, Bhubaneswar now has 12,906 active cases.
Notably, the total number of positive cases in Bhubaneswar since May 1 is 17,126.
Out of a total of 94,974 positive cases in Khurda district, Bhubaneswar accounts for 65 per cent.
