Bhubaneswar: The state capital on Wednesday reported the highest single-day spike with 1294 fresh coronavirus cases.
Among new cases in the last 24 hours here, 163 are in quarantine and 1131 from local contacts.
Looking at the area-wise breakup, highest number of cases are from Nayapalli (62), followed by Patia (57), Badagada (46), Khandagiri and Jagamohan Nagar (44 each), Old Town (42), Laxmi Sagar and Rasulgarh (36 each), Baramunda and Chintamaniswar (34 each), Mancheswar (32), Jharpada and Sundarpada (31 each), and Dumduma (28).
As many as 803 patients have recovered from the disease in last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 45,581.
Bhubaneswar now has 11,178 active cases.
The total tally of positive cases in the city has now gone up to 57,066.
