Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in Odisha capital crossed 200-mark again on Thursday with 263 more people testing positive for the virus in the last 24 hours.
The city was witnessing a downward trend in new cases with the number dropping to 197 on Wednesday.
A total of 235 new infections were reported on Tuesday, 211 on Monday, 227 on Sunday and 307 on Saturday.
Of the new cases, 45 are from quarantine and 218 local contacts. Among local contacts, maximum 18 cases have been detected in Patia, followed by 15 each from Nayapalli and Old Town, and 9 from Baramunda.
While 187 patients recovered during the period, the number of deceased has gone up to 979 with one more death due to the disease.
The city now has 3,228 active cases while the affected tally has touched 10,4,755, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated.
