Bhubaneswar: The daily COVID-19 caseload in the state capital crossed 1000 for the fifth consecutive day with 1034 new cases being reported in the last 24 hours on Saturday.
Of the new cases, 154 are from quarantine and 880 through local contacts (85%).
Patia and Nayapalli reported the maximum 54 cases each, followed by Laxmisagar and Khandagiri (40 each), Old Town (37), Chandrasekharpur (35), Dumduma (33), Rasulgarh (27), Baramunda (24), Jharpada, Sailashree Vihar, Unit-8 and Unit-9 (23 each), BJB Nagar (21), Sundarpada (20), Niladri Vihar (19), Badagada (15), Bomikhal and Unit-6 (13 each), Mancheswar and Pokhariput (11 each) and Saheed Nagar (10).
As for recoveries, 1019 patients recovered in the city, taking the total to 42,155. The total number of cases stands at 52,530.
The number of new infections in Bhubaneswar since April 1 is 19,464, with the highest being on April 29 (1119 cases).
Out of a total of 82,149 cases in Khurda district, Bhubaneswar now accounts for 64 per cent.
