Bhubaneswar: MGM Minerals Ltd on Tuesday donated Rs 1 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund towards free vaccination against COVID-19.
MGM Minerals Ltd Chairman Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and Director Saroj Ray handing over a cheque of Rs 1 crore to Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra.
Mohanty said “Due to the proactive and prompt COVID management strategy of the state government, the pandemic situation in Odisha is under control. With full cooperation of people, the government will be able to contain the disease”.
Thanking the company for its gesture, the Chief Secretary urged them to comply with all COVID norms in their office, at workplace and homes. They were also requested to continue awareness activities.
The state had announced to launch vaccination for all above the age of 18 from May 1. However, it may be mentioned here that on Tuesday, the government had stated that Phase III of the vaccination programme is unlikely to kick off on May 1 due to shortage of vaccine.
