New Delhi: The government on Monday approved Sputnik-V, the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Russia, for emergency use in the country.
This is the third vaccine approved in India after Covishield and Covaxin.
According to sources, the Hyderabad-based Dr Reddy’s Laboratories will import it initially and then source it from a dozen contract manufacturers who are ready to ramp up facilities to 1.5 billion doses annually much more than combined capacity of Serum Institute of India (manufacturer of Covishield) and Bharat Biotech (maker of Covaxin).
