COVID Vaccine: Odisha Seeks Revision In Allocation Ratio, Wants 95%

Bhubaneswar: Odisha has urged the Centre to revise the COVID-19 vaccine supply ratio for state governments and private hospitals.

In a letter to Union Health & Family Welfare minister Harsh Vardhan, state Health & Family Welfare Naba Kishore Das wrote that the state government won’t be able to achieve its objective of 100 per cent vaccination under the 75:25 supply ratio, and sought a 95:5 ratio.

From June 21, the Centre has been supplying 75 per cent of available vaccines to state governments and 25 per cent to private hospitals.

“According to changed vaccine supply guidelines, private hospitals will able to procure 25 per cent of the vaccines directly from manufacturers. Considering that there are only seven private hospitals in Odisha, the state government will not be able to get an adequate amount of vaccines,” the minister stated and requested the Union minister to supply 95% of vaccines to state governments.
