CPI (Maoist)’s Week-Long Celebration: Security Tightened In Rayagada

Rayagada: The CPI (Maoist) started observing week-long celebrations for its 15th Foundation Day from Saturday.

The celebration will continue till September 27.

Different Maoists’ organisations had formed CPI (Maoist) on September 21, 2014. Maoists have been observing this day as their foundation day since then.

The Maoists have also declared to celebrate the week in the villages under Basadhara-Ghumsura-Nagabali Divisional Committee.

The police have sounded an alert in the district for celebrations by the Maoists. The police have tightened security in the areas.

The police are also doing combing operation in Maoist-affected areas under Kalyansinghpur, Kashipur, Doraguda, Aambadola, Muniguda, Chandrapur, Bishama Cuttack, and Gudari police limits.

All the borders of the district have been sealed and police are carrying out random checking in all these areas.

As Niyamagiri and Basangamali areas are the most affected by the Maoists, more SOG and CRPF jawans have been deployed there, said the sources.

The police have also been focusing on the border areas of Kandhamal and Kalahandi districts.

Besides, security has been tightened at railway stations, bus stands and other public places of the district.
