Bhadrak: A 200-foot-long crack in an embankment of Genguti river triggered panic among villagers of Rameshwarpur in Dhamnagar block of Bhadrak district on Monday.
The villagers alleged that the embankment has become weak due to poor quality of construction and lack of maintenance.
Earlier in June, a 100-metre crack had appeared in the embankment at Mallika Sahi in Rameshwarpur village when there was a flood in the river due to Cyclone Yaas.
Also, around 300 metres of the embankment had caved in near Sethi Sahi in Kantha village in the district.
