Puri: With only three days left for Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra in Odisha’s Puri, crack was reportedly detected in one of the axles of Devi Subhadra’s Darpadalan chariot on Saturday.
Sources said the crack was detected during an inspection of the chariot this morning. After the detection of crack, the authorities and officials concerned were immediately informed about the incident. The carpenters involved have also been asked to take immediate steps to repair the faulty portion.
Devotees have reportedly voiced concern over the incident as it has a potential to create problem during pulling of chariots on the occasion of Rath Yatra on June 20.
The district administration and Temple officials should take necessary measures at the earliest to ensure that the pulling of chariots take place in a smooth and hasslefree manner, senior servitor Binayak Dasmohapatra said.
Another servitor said the axle has been repaired with iron clamp and every aspect has been examined to prevent any threat to the chariot.
