Cuttack: Intensifying the crackdown on criminals before the ensuing Durga Puja festivities, Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested eight associates of gangster brothers Sushil and Sushant Dhal Samant.
According to police sources, they were arrested following surprise raids at different places. Huge quantity of Indian and foreign liquor was seized from their possession.
Police recovered several objectionable items in Bidyadharpur and huge quantity of liquor bottles from Cuttack Nagar Yuvak Sangha’s office at Nuabazaar.
Chitan, the nephew of Dhal Samant brothers’ aide Bhagana, managed to flee during a similar raid on his house at Thatali Sahi in Chaluliaganj. He was later nabbed from Nladri Vihar here, the sources added.
