New Delhi: Delhi Police is leaving no stone unturned to identify those who changed direction during the farmers’ tractor rally and stormed the Red Fort on Republic Day.
ACP Delhi BK Singh informed on Sunday that police is trying to track addresses of tractor owners who took the wrong route on January 26. Once they are identified, notices will be sent to them.
“A team from National Forensic Sciences University is analysing videos of January 26 violence in Delhi. They visited various spots in Delhi today. Delhi Police’s Crime Branch received more than 5,000 video footages and photos from the public,” ACP Singh said.
“Videos of the wrong route the mob took on Republic Day are being collected. More than 50 notices have been issued. The tractors’ registration numbers have been sent to licensing authority to track addresses of owners of tractors. Notices are being sent to them as well,” Singh added.
Delhi police’s crime branch has received 1,700 mobile clips related the January 26 violence from citizens.
Phone locations of people seen in the videos are being traced.
Though the Delhi police had given permission to the tractor rally only on pre-arranged routes, some of the protestors violated those routes, broke barricades, clashed with police and even went into Red Fort where they unfurled religious flags.
