Puri: Several cracks have appeared on the Meghanada Pacheri, the massive boundary wall surrounding Shree Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri, raising concerns over the safety of the 12th-century shrine.
As per information, wastewater from the Ananda Bazaar in the temple complex is reportedly seeping through the cracks. Patches of algae have also appeared on some stretches of the wall protecting the temple complex.
A servitor of the temple said that water has been leaking through the Meghanada Pacheri since 2021 but the administration ie yet to undertake any repair work.
Servitors as well as devotees voiced concern over cracks appearing on the temple boundary wall, and underlined the need to undertake immediate repair work.
Speaking on the issue, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said necessary steps will be taken soon as the authorities are also concerned about the current state of Meghanada Pacheri.
Stating that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and technical teams have inspected the wall, he said necessary repair and restoration work will commence soon.
