Cuttack: There’s good news for cricket and Mahendra Singh Dhoni lovers. Mahendra Singh Dhoni Cricket Academy will open a “cricket clinic” in Odisha from next month.
With the help of this clinic, the academy will select budding cricket players and give them a chance to train and learn about cricket at the MS Dhoni Cricket Academy. Dhoni and some noted cricketers who have been playing for India will train them at the academy.
Notably, the selection procedure has already started throughout India and the “cricket clinic” will start in Odisha from May 25. In Odisha, three fields will be chosen for the “cricket clinic”, perhaps in Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and Sambalpur. The academy will take the fields on rent for seven days.
The field selection procedure has already been started by the Aarka Sports Management Private Limited, which is managing the MS Dhoni Academy.
Though the field selection procedure has not yet been finalised, the clinic might open in Nimapur sports field in Cuttack, KIIT stadium in Bhubaneswar and VSS stadium in Sambalpur.
The clinic will open from May 25 to 31 in Cuttack and from June 12 to 19 in Sambalpur. Dates for its Bhubaneswar opening have not been decided yet.
Training on basic fundamentals of cricket will also be given at the clinic. Both theory and practical classes will take place. The academy will provide all infrastructure for the clinic.
Players whose performance is good in the seven days will be sent to MS Dhoni academies in different parts of the country. The academy will also provide accommodation to the players.
“It is a good opportunity for budding cricketers of Odisha,” said a member of the academy.
