Mumbai: Rishi Sunak had a fun-filled day in Mumbai on Sunday as he relieved his cricketing passion.
The former British Prime Minister, who travelled to Mumbai after attending the Jaipur Literature Festival, showed his batting skills at the Parsee Gymkhana during a tennis ball match to celebrate the club’s anniversary celebrations. In the evening, he was present at the Wankhede Stadium to watch the India versus England final T20 International.
Sunak expressed his satisfaction after being out there with the bat for a fairly long time.
“I am happy that I did not get out too many times… relieved to have stayed at the crease longer than expected,” he joked.
Sunak shared glimpses of the match in a post on X, and wrote: “No trip to Mumbai is complete without a game of tennis ball cricket.”
In Mumbai on a day when India and England were playing an international cricket match, Sunak couldn’t resist the temptation to be at the ground.
He caught up with rival skippers Suryakumar Yadav and Jos Buttler before the toss and then settled down in the VIP stands to watch an electrifying performance by India opener Abhishek Sharma, who smashed a century in 37 balls.
