Mumbai: Anushka Sharma is really slogging it out on the cricket field. No, she is not giving husband Virat Kohli company. Neither is the actor-producer mulling a change in profession.
The Bollywood star is preparing in all earnestness for her Bollywood comeback with ‘Chakda Xpress’ in which she is playing role of one of India’s top woman cricketers Jhulan Goswami.
Anushka gave her fans and followers a glimpse of her hard work by sharing some pictures from her practice session on Instagram on Friday.
“Grip by grip #prep #ChakdaXpress,” Anushka captioned the post.
Jhulan, the most successful fast bowler among Indian women, appreciated Anushka’s preparation and wrote, “Very nice.”
A few days ago, Anushka was clicked training at a Mumbai cricket ground.
Anushka’s last film was ‘Zero’, in 2018.
Explaining why she took up the role, Anushka had said that Jhulan had a fighting and extremely uncertain cricketing career but stayed motivated to make her country proud.
“She strived to change the stereotype that women can’t make a career out of playing cricket in India so that the next generation of girls had a better playing field. Her life is a living testimony that passion and perseverance triumphs over any or all adversities and Chakda Xpress is the most definitive look into the not so rosy world of women’s cricket back then. As a woman, I was proud to hear Jhulan’s story and it is an honour for me to try and bring her life to audiences and cricket lovers. As a cricketing nation, we have to give our women cricketers their due. Jhulan’s story is truly an underdog story in the history of cricket in India and the film is our celebration of her spirit,” Anushka explained.
