Bhubaneswar: The Crime Branch of Odisha Police has started investigation into the death of a school student in Odisha’s Gajapati district.
A five-member team of the Crime Branch on Monday visited the house of Soudamini Raita, the Class IX student of Betaguda-based Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Paralakhemundi of the district.
They questioned the family members to ascertain the cause of her death. Soudamini was found hanging in her school under mysterious circumstances in February.
While the police could not confirm the cause of the ‘suicide’, Soudamini’s family members suspected foul play and alleged that she was murdered.
Following her death, Soudamini’s family had told the media that they were not convinced that she would take the extreme step as there was no reason for it. They had demanded an impartial probe into the incident.
