Crime Branch To Probe Khurda BJP Leader’s Murder

Cuttack: The Crime Branch police will probe into the murder of senior BJP leader and Khurda Zone-9 Mandal president Manguli Jena.

The BJP leader was shot dead by an unidentified assailant near the party office in Khurda town late on Sunday.

“Keeping the workload of the district police in mind, the matter has been handed over to the Crime Branch, who can conduct the inquiry in a dedicated way,” DGP in-charge B K Sharma to the media here on Tuesday.

The Crime Branch DSP Pramod Rath will investigate the murder under the direct supervision of the IG, Crime Branch, Arun Bothra, he said.

Inspector General of Police (Central Range), Soumendra Priyadarshi, who was earlier in-charge of the case, will assist the Crime Branch in further investigation by providing local resources, he added.
