Hyderabad: A criminal case has been registered against prominent Telugu film personalities, including Venkatesh, Rana Daggubati, Abhiram Daggubati and Suresh Babu in connection with a controversial demolition of Deccan Kitchen Hotel.
The FIR has named producer Suresh as accused number one (A1), his brother Venkatesh as A2, Suresh’s son and actor Rana Daggubati as A3 and Rana’s brother and producer Abhiram Daggubati as A4.
Film Nagar Police registered a case under sections 448, 452, 458 and 120B for trespass and criminal conspiracy under BNS.
On Saturday, the Nampally court had directed police to register a case and take action for violation of court orders.
The court’s order was based on a complaint by Nanda Kumar accusing Venkatesh and his family members of illegal demolition.
Despite a pending injunction from City Civil Court and orders from Telangana High Court, the accused unlawfully entered the property and caused damage with the help of anti-social elements, the complainant alleged.
Official records say that the Daggubati family had leased their property in Film Nagar to Nanda Kumar, a businessman and a suspect in an MLA purchase scandal. Nanda had been operating Deccan Kitchen on the leased land, but disputes arose over the lease agreement, leading to legal confrontation.
