Cuttack: Notorious criminal Guru Charan alias Guria was injured after an encounter with the police in Jagatpur area in Cuttack city in late evening on Wednesday.
Talking to media persons here, ACP, Special Squad, Pramod Rath said following a tipoff on the presence of Guria at Bargudia embankment road a team of Jagatpur police and a special squad of commissionerate police raided the area. Seeing the police, he hurled a bomb at the police. As police opened fire, a bullet hit his leg. Police later overpowered him and rushed him to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment.
One 7.65 mm mouser and a live bomb were seized from his possession, Rath said.
He further said several cases are pending against Guria at different police stations He was wanted in three cases of bomb hurling.
