Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader Prasanna Acharya, who was critically injured in a road accident late last night, was airlifted to Bhubaneswar from a private hospital in Sambalpur on Friday afternoon.
The former BJD Rajya Sabha member sustained severe injuries after his car collided with a gas tanker near Beldihi, barely 5 km from Rairakhol, around 12.30 am. The accident took place when he was travelling to Bargarh from Bhubaneswar after attending a party meeting at Naveen Niwas. He was initially taken to Rairakhol sub-divisional hospital and later shifted to a private hospital in Sambalpur, where he received 35 stitches on his forehead and nose.
