Bhubaneswar: Vigilance arrested an Anganwadi worker in Puri district on the charge of having properties beyond her known sources of income amounting to over Rs one crore on Thursday.
The Vigilance officials of Bhubaneswar Division on Wednesday conducted raids on the assets of Sandhyarani Bhata, Anganwadi worker, Akhayadham Anganwadi Centre, Balisahi, Puri.
During raids, Bhata was found in possession of a triple-storey building, two single-storey buildings, two asbestos houses, five plots, a four-wheeler, three two-wheelers, deposits in different banks, gold and silver ornaments and cash.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, Bhata was found in possession of assets to the tune of Rs 1,24,18,991.
As Bhata, could not account for the properties satisfactorily, a case was registered against her. She was arrested and forwarded to the Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. The court remanded her to jail custody till January 6.
