Berhampur: After conducting raids on his houses and properties for two days, Vigilance Cell Division officers on Sunday arrested Berhampur DFO Ashis Kumar Behera on charges of amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The anti-corruption wing of Cuttack Vigilance Cell had conducted simultaneous raids at nine places, including his Berhampur office, official residence and residence. They have also examined various important documents, land records and bank passbooks belonging to Behera.
During the search, officers of the anti-corruption wing unearthed movable and immovable assets to the tune of over Rs 2.19 crore.
The assets include one flat in Bhubaneswar, four plots in Bhubaneswar, Berhampur and Bhanjanagar, a hatchback, bank and post office deposits, insurance policies, gold and silver jewellery and Rs 6.81 lakh in cash.
