Bhubaneswar: The family of another COVID-infected patient, a lady teacher from Odisha’s Bhadrak district, has appealed for help to airlift her to Chennai for Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) treatment.
Pratima Parhi (56) of Basudevpur in Bhadrak district was admitted to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, a fortnight back. She was diagnosed with the infection about one and a half month back and brought to AIIMS for better treatment, family sources said.
Pratima’s daughter Sumitra Parhi said, “COVID infection has caused severe pneumonia to my mother and more than 70% of her lungs have got damaged. She is on ventilator now. The oxygen saturation is going down to 70 sometimes.”
“We have consulted MGM Hospital, Chennai for advanced treatment but for that the family would require public support to help my mother recover” she added.
ECMO treatment, including air ambulance costs a lot and we are running out of time. So please, please, please contribute to save my mother, Sumitra appealed.
Pratima has been working in the field of alternative education for last 35 years.
