Bargarh: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan allegedly commited suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver at the CRPF camp in Jagdalpur area of Padampur sub-division in Odisha’s Bargarh district.
The deceased has been identified as Prasanjit Pal, a resident of West Bengal. However, reason behind the step taken by him is yet to be ascertained.
Sources said, Prasanjit was on duty in a watch tower late on Monday night. Later, he was found dead on the tower.
Some of his colleagues had rushed him to Padampur hospital at night. They claimed that Prasanjit had shot himself dead with his service revolver, but they failed to specify the reason for his suicide.
An investigation into his death is underway, sources said.
