Kandhamal: The CRPF personnel on Thursday night detonated a tiffin bomb during a combing operation in Kandhamal district.

According to sources, the central forces during a combing operation found a tiffin bomb planted on  Phulbani-Gochhapada road.

Following information, a special bomb disposal squad of the CRPF rushed to the spot and tried to pull out the tiffin bomb planted underground on the roadside.

As they could not pull out the bomb which was about 5 kgs, they blasted the explosive.

Kandhamal SP Pratik Singh said during the examination, the CRPF personnel found that the tiffin bomb was inactive which indicates that the Maoists had planted it some months back to target the Central forces.

“Search operations in this area have been intensified following the incident,” he added.
