Nuapada: A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel allegedly shot himself dead with his service rifle in Boden area of Odisha’a Nuapada district on Sunday.
According to preliminary information, the incident took place at Khadupani under the jurisdiction of Boden police station in the district.
The deceased was identified as sub-inspector D Gunnasekaran, who hailed from Tamil Nadu. He was reportedly posted as a sub-inspector at 19 BN CRPF. He allegedly shot himself at Khadupani camp while on duty.
The reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained and investigation is in progress.
On being informed, a team of police officials rushed to the site. Further details are awaited.
