Bhubaneswar: Construction of Nuagaon Road-Dasapalla railway section, a part of the much-awaited Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project in Odisha, has been completed and awaits clearance from the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for commissioning.

CRS of South Eastern Circle A M Chowdhary inspected the 15.445 km rail line between Nuagaon Road and Dasapalla railway section of the Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project. All safety-related works on the new line were inspected and thoroughly checked earlier in the day, railway officials said.

Chowdhary examined the safety aspects such as overhead equipment, bridge, telecommunication and signal equipment, railway track and manned level crossing. Moreover, a speedy trial was also conducted between Dasapalla and Nuagaon Road stations to review the safety aspects of the section.

This achievement is an outcome of consistent project review by Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. General Manager Manoj Sharma has advised officials to prioritise the speedy completion of various project works in the region. Sharma also emphasised the need for officials to coordinate with stakeholders, including state government officials, to expedite completion of the project.

Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project will boost the economy of the region and foster socio-cultural connections between Western Odisha and Coastal Odisha, apart from promoting tourism.

Notably, out of the 301 Km length of the Khurda Road-Balangir rail line project, a total of 142.505 km has been completed, including approximately 106 km from Khurda Road to Dasapalla and 36 Km from Balangir to Khambeswarpalli. ECoR also aims to complete an additional 84 Km of rail line from Khambeswarpali to Purunakatak in the FY 2023-24.
