Bhubaneswar: A dog was allegedly burnt alive by a woman near Budheswari temple in Laxmisagar in Odisha’s capital on Saturday.

According to reports, the dog used to enter her house for food. On Saturday, she allegedly poured petrol on the dog and set it on fire.

Sewa Hi Sankalp Anusthan, an animal welfare organisation, has lodged an FIR against the woman, who was detained for questioning.

A few days ago, on Wednesday, a man shot a stray dog and injured another at Jagamara in Bhubaneswar for allegedly killing some of his chickens.

Residents of Tala Sahi spotted a dog injured by a shotgun and informed Sewa Hi Sankalp Anusthan. As the team led by its founder Rajesh Prusty began treating the injured animal, the locals found another canine on the premises of a house nearby. It was found dead with pellet injuries on its chest. The other dog was shot in the spinal cord.
