Puri/Bhubaneswar: Sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Thursday after he fell ill during a hunger strike to protest pollution.
He had been on the strike since Tuesday, demanding cleaning of Bankimuhan beach in Puri. He took the step after after his request to the state government, seeking measures to save the beach from pollution, was ignored.
The sand artist was taken to the hospital by his supporters after his condition deteriorated.
Meanwhile, Puri Municipal Corporation started a massive beach cleaning process.
