Bhubaneswar: Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) has introduced digital payment option on pilot basis in MoBus in order to help the passengers go cashless at the time of COVID-19.
This digital payment option will allow commuters to buy tickets through digital wallets. In this payment mode, they can scan a QR code available with the Guides and their payment will be made to the CRUT bank account. Both the commuters and Guides will get message after the transaction is done.
“In order to reduce the transaction of currency notes or coins in MoBus and also minimize the contact between guides and commuters, we thought of introducing digital payment through QR code option. From the very beginning, MoBus had an option of online payment through app. The digital option will further facilitate cashless transaction,” said Dipti Mahapatro, general manager, CRUT.
Initially, the facility will be available on Route 16 and 20 and will be extended to other routes after getting feedback from the commuters, said Mahapatro. “Tap & Pay” card will be introduced in MoBus soon, she added.
