Bhubaneswar: Odisha capital are all set to see double-decker electric buses on the city roads with the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) inviting a tender for this purpose.
As per official sources, the CRUT has floated a tender for the selection of a bus operator for the supply, operation and maintenance of double-decker electric buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model for 10+2 years.
The Request For Proposal (RFP) has been published by the CRUT to invite proposals for the manufacture and supply of five double-decker electric buses (AC) with chargers and comprehensive maintenance for a period of 10+2 years.
As per plans, the CRUT proposes to introduce as many as five double decker electric buses for Khurda, Puri and Cuttack districts in the first phase.
A 10-year contract will be signed with a private organisation for the supply, operation, maintenance of the busses and employing workers for it. If required, the contract period may be extended for two more years.
CRUT intends to use green energy for its operations for promoting clean and green shared mobility on a Gross Cost Contract (GCC) basis through appointment of fleet operator.
“This Request for Proposal (RFP) is hereby published to invite proposals for manufacture, supply of 05 (Five) numbers of Double Decker AC Fully Built-in Electric Buses with Chargers and comprehensive maintenance for a period of (10+2) years. Authority intends to deploy said Buses for tourism purposes within the State and other routes decided by the Authority,” the notification issued by CRUT says.
