CUET Delay Puts ‘Vishwa Guru’ Tag In Crosshairs As Rahul, Kejriwal Blast PM Modi

New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the Centre on Saturday after the National Testing Agency confirmed disruptions to the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG), saying that despite claims of being a “Vishwa Guru”, the administration “can’t conduct even one exam”, ANI reported.

The NTA said the CUET-UG was delayed at some centres on May 30 because of a technical glitch reported by its service provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). The agency said the problem originated with the vendor, has been resolved, and affected candidates are being given compensatory time.

Gandhi, citing a string of troubled national examinations, warned of the fallout for the country’s youth and accuse

d the government of widespread mismanagement. “NEET. CBSE. SSC. And today CUET. Four exams. One crore children. Not a single one conducted with honesty,” he wrote on X.

He escalated the criticism by directly blaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for harming the education system and threatening political consequences from a disgruntled generation. “Claims of “world guru,” but can’t conduct even one exam in the country – Modi ji has completely ruined the entire education system. The generation whose future you are destroying – that same generation will hold you accountable.”

The episode compounds recent examination controversies, including the CBSE OSM discrepancies row and the NEET-UG paper leak case, both of which have generated political heat and concerns over exam integrity.

Kejriwal Slams PM Modi

Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal also targeted the prime minister on X, saying, “The country needs an educated PM,” responding to AAP leader Atishi’s post about students’ difficulties at a Varanasi exam centre.

In its official X statement, the NTA clarified: “M/s TCS has reported that a technical glitch at their end delayed the commencement of CUET (UG) 2026 at some centres on 30.05.2026. The issue has since been resolved, and the exam is being conducted with full compensatory time so that no candidate is disadvantaged.”
