Bhubaneswar: Vice Chancellor of Central University of Odisha Prof Chakradhar Tripathy called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and informed her about a proposal to set up a world class tribal library, museum and tribal research institute in Koraput.
There was a positive discussion with the President in this regard and she appreciated the academic initiative of the Vice Chancellor for uplift of the tribal community, CUO said in a release on Thursday.
Prof Tripathy is quite optimistic that the proposed tribal centre will be set up in the university and it will help in the field of conservation and research on the language, culture and knowledge of the tribal people in the region and across the country, it said.
It is pertinent to mention here that most of the posts of permanent teachers and staff in the university have not been filled up. The lack of senior teachers has affected a lot in the teaching and learning process, the release said.
In view of all this, the university is in the process of appointing senior visiting professors in various departments in an effort to make qualitative academic teaching and learning. The university is going to publish an advertisement very soon to fill up the posts of permanent teachers and staff.
In order to promote sports in the university, a permanent sports Professor is being appointed. To take the university sports to the international level, Prof. Jatin Kumar Harjivandas Soni, former Vice-Chancellor of Swarnim Gujarat Sports University, is being appointed Visiting Professor. Presently, under his supervision, the construction of the sports complex in the University is going on, it added.
