Sambalpur: With situation in violence-hit Sambalpur city of Odisha slowly returning to normalcy, the district administration on Monday further relaxed the curfew.

Speaking to media persons, Sambalpur district collector Ananya Das said the curfew would be relaxed for the people of Sambalpur city from 7 am to 1 pm and 3.30 pm to 6 pm. The new order would come into effect from Tuesday, she added.

The district administration has further relaxed the curfew time to enable the people to move out of their houses to procure essential commodities.

On Sunday, Sambalpur sub-collector had issued an order stating that the restrictions due to curfew will be relaxed from 7.30 am to 11.30 am and 3.30 pm to 6 pm from Monday.

The district administration on Saturday had announced relaxation of curfew for two hours each in morning and evening on Sunday. The decision was taken in view of several job related examinations scheduled for the day.

It may be noted that some miscreants pelted stones at a motorcycle rally that was taken out on April 12 ahead of Hanuman Jayanti in the city. It led to a clash between two groups. Many shops and vehicles were set on fire during the clash.
