Curtains On 13th Film Festival On Arts & Artists In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The two-day International Film Festival with multiple film screenings, workshops and talks by senior artists at IDCOL Auditorium here came to an end on Monday (February 10)

The extravagant film fiesta, organized by the JD Centre of Art, screened 48 films from 17 different countries. The theme of the film festival revolved around the hardships that an artist faces at the time of creating his masterpiece.

The festival began with the screening of the film ‘Gurrumul’ by Paul Damien Williams. The film was based on the life of Australia’s renowned musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. The award-winning film was also premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.

Manoranjan Badatya’s award-winning movie ‘Sand Says Something’, a biopic of Odia sculptor Sudarshan Pattnaik made a lasting impression on the audience.

Odia movie ‘Through the Eyes of an Artist’ showcased the efforts made by the legendary Gotipua Guru Birabara Sahu to keep the ancient Odia dance form alive. The film has been directed by Abhishek Swain.

Greek film ‘The Art of Making’ also made an incredible impact on the audience.

Filmmaker Nandan Saxenam conducted master classes on the art of filmmaking and singer Vidya Shah enthralled the audience with his melodious classical and folk songs.

The festival concluded with Avani Rai’s ‘Raghu Rai an Unframed Portrait’.

Besides the award-winning films, traditional handicrafts, handlooms and art-books were also displayed at the festival.
