Cuttack: In an additional attraction to Bali Jatra in Cuttack this year, a colourful tableau that will visit different cities in Odisha was rolled out on Wednesday.
Cuttack mayor Subhash Chandra Singh flagged off the tableau, prepared by the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), at Bali Jatra ground in the city. Deputy mayor Damayanti Majhi, district collector Narahari Sethy, corporators and seniors officials of district administration and CMC were present.
Aimed at wide publicity of the Bali Jatra, the state’s biggest trade fair, the tableau will go to Bhubaneswar, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur and Paradeep.
The Bali Jatra will start on the banks of Mahanadi river on the occasion of Kartika Purnima on November 27 and continue till December 4.
The annual trade fair, which is organised in memory of the glorious maritime history of Odisha, attracts lakhs of visitors from across the state every year. This year, around 1,900 stalls of various products ranging from handicraft to household goods will be set up.
A special attraction of the Jatra will be a mobile tunnel aquarium of a private agency from Tamil Nadu.
