Cuttack Boy In World Book of Records For FANI Relief

Cuttack: He was felicitated for helping quench the thirst of traffic cops in the Millennium City in October last year, and this selfless service to the society has now earned him a place in the World Book of Records.

Meet 12-year-old Abhisek Sahoo, who had distributed around 10,000 litres of safe drinking water among the traffic personnel in the aftermath of FANI, which had hit Odisha coast on May 3, 2019.

This Class VIII student of SCB Medical Public School and a resident of Bikash Nagar in Badambadi area here got himself enlisted in the World Book of Records – London on February 26.

It is an international organisation that catalogues and verifies number of world records across the globe with authentic certification.

The 12-year-old, however, did not ask his father, Alok Ranjan Sahoo, for a penny for this noble act. “He spent the money he had won in various music competitions on buying water for them,” the proud father said.

A drummer, he has won numerous awards both at state and national levels.

Abishek is an active member of five different NGOs – Biswa Kalinga Foundation, Loka Seva, Eita Jibana, Phoenix and Semra Foundation. He is also the brand ambassador of two of them. The multi-talented little heart has also acted in ‘Ama Ghare Lakshmi’, an Odia TV series.

He aims to become a doctor and a popular drummer.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had met him in 2017 and appreciated his efforts, thoughts and noble gestures at such an early age.
