Cuttack: Jagatpur Police on Monday nabbed two persons in connection with the death of Tusharkanta Sahu, a Plus Two student of Christ College.
The accused are Dibyaranjan Behera and Kaushal Pradhan.
Informing mediapersons, Cuttack Zone-I ACP Amarendra Panda said the two youths have been charged with abetment for provoking Tusharkant to jump into Mahanadi river and commit suicide.

The deceased, Tusarkant Sahoo went missing on August 2, following which his parents lodged a complaint with the Cantonment police on August 3, alleging that a former boyfriend of his son’s girlfriend had kidnapped him.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Amarendra Panda said on Monday that the relationship between Tusarkant and his girlfriend turned sour after some disputes.
Dibyaranjan, a friend of the girl’s elder sister, and his associate Kaushal used to torture and harass Tusharkant and also threatened to implicate him in a false case. Both the accused had beaten up Tusharkant on August 3, the day he went missing, said the ACP.
The Plus two student had jumped into the river from Dhabaleswar bridge and his body was recovered from Jobra barrage on August 5. The boy’s family members denied to accept the suicide claims and demanded a thorough probe.
Based on the complaint, police initially filed an unnatural death case and a probe was launched by Jagatpur police based on several aspects.
Panda said there was no delay in the probe as police had registered an unnatural death case. Following investigation and taking into account various aspects, a case was subsequently registered and the two persons have been arrested. The role of the girl and others will be thoroughly examined, Panda added.
